Municipality of Kavarna has an unique natural potential, that determinates its social and economic characteristics and its perspectives for development.
It is situated in the most eastern part of Danube Plain and belongs to the Dobrudzha littoral.
The lay is from plain to plain-hilly. Large part of the territory/ above 75%/ is covered with fertile cultivated areas. The picturesque Kavarna seaside is 42 km long and its situated just 50 km nirth from Varna. It is slightly indented and there are small beach strips of land on it.
The priority economic branches of Municipality Kavarna are agriculture, tourism, light and food industry. The industrial base of the municipality is represented by the production of the machine building plant for excavators and carriers, sewing and knitwear factories, as well as companies for food processing, upholstery furniture, joinery and womans ready made clothes. What is distinctive of these manufactures is their low energy consumption. As whole these manufactures do not depend on any expensive import of raw materials and consumables. The skillfully use of natural features of the region generates opportunities for a competitive production manufacturing, especially in the field of food industry. Thus together with the need of renewal of the methods of production is a precondition for catching the attention of new partners, creditors and investors.
The agriculture forms the most important share from the economy of the municipality. The region is one of the big producers of farm production in the country.The natural conditions here are exclusively favorable for plant growing development growing of grain , technical and forage plants. A perspective trend is the vegetables growing , which in line with crops like been, soya, lentils and other technical crops has a potential for future development through extension of sowing areas and diversity of growing sorts. The conditions and traditions in stock breeding of Kavarna region are an argument for its revival. Thus, the efforts are directed to restoration of the balance between raw materials production with animal origin and processing capacities of the municipality, towards construction of a modern raw materials base and an optimal capacity of food and processing industry.

Municipality Kavarna disposes with a great potential and non- used resources for sea holiday tourism development. The material base is especially good for development of cultural exploring, hunting and village tourism. The region of Kavarna offers wonderful opportunities for development of eco- tourism in all its forms в from family holidays in a cosy traditional cottage in Balgarevo, Kamen bryag or Topola , to specialized tourism- watching and taking pictures if birds, plants, dolphins and different kinds of fishes in the coastal waters, as well as introduction of the rich cultural and historic heritage. The flora and the birds determinate in great extend the image of the reserve Kaliakra. The flora numbers over 400 species. 45 species from them are rare, nearly extinct as well Р°s endemic plants, of them with steppe origin.
Kaliakra is the only place in the world where can be found plants like Kaliakra pluskavitche and Kaliakraв bluebottle / Centaurea/. Here, in the region of Kaliakra are situated the biggest habitats of more than 20 rare and near distinction plants like the globe flower with narrow leaves, rue, the Crimea tea , Iris suaveilens, ect. The variety of birds is a result of the preserved wild nature and of the fact that along the Black sea coast goes one of the first-rate migration ways Via Pontica. Kaliakra is among the few places in Europe, where can be done bird watching of Rose colored starling, Black wheatear , five kands of larks, typical for the Balkan peninsula. The steppes are a snug home for Stone curlew, red в backed shrike, Lesser gray shrike and Isabel line wheatear. The coastal rocks come alive by Aristotles cormorant, Alpine swift and different kinds of songbirds.
